Diesel Truck Mobile Service in Houston: What We Can Handle On-Site
Houston has a huge population of diesel trucks — Ford Power Stroke, Chevy Duramax, and Ram Cummins. Whether it is a work truck or a daily driver, many diesel services can be performed mobile. Here is what we handle on-site.
Oil and filter changes: Diesel oil changes are larger than gas vehicles — typically 10-15 quarts depending on the engine. We carry diesel-rated oils (15W-40 conventional and 5W-40 synthetic) and the larger filters these engines require. We also replace the fuel filter during oil service on some models when due.
Fuel filter replacement: Diesel fuel filters are a regular maintenance item — most manufacturers recommend replacement every 15,000-30,000 miles. A clogged fuel filter causes hard starting, loss of power, and rough running. On Ford 6.7L Power Stroke trucks, there are two fuel filters — primary and secondary — and both need attention.
Battery service: Most diesel trucks run two batteries in parallel to provide the high cranking amps needed for diesel compression-ignition starting. If one battery fails, the other is usually close behind. We test both batteries independently under load and replace them as a pair when needed.
Glow plug diagnosis: Diesel engines use glow plugs (not spark plugs) to heat the combustion chamber for cold starts. A failed glow plug causes hard starting, white smoke on cold startup, and a check engine light. We can diagnose and replace glow plugs on most diesel engines on-site.
Serpentine belt and tensioner: Diesel engines put more load on accessories, and the belt system works harder. We replace belts and tensioners in your driveway.
DEF system basics: Modern diesels (2010+) use Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) for emissions control. If your DEF light comes on, it usually just needs a refill. If the system has a fault code, we can diagnose DEF quality sensors, injectors, and tank heaters.
Cooling system: Diesel engines generate more heat and have larger cooling systems. We service thermostats, hoses, coolant, and water pumps on most diesel trucks.
Turbo-related diagnostics: Turbo boost leaks, wastegate issues, and boost sensor problems are common on higher-mileage diesels. We can diagnose boost pressure, intercooler leaks, and turbo bearing play on-site.
What needs a diesel specialty shop: Injector replacement (requires precise calibration), turbo rebuild or replacement (on some models), DPF cleaning or replacement, and major engine work.
We are honest about scope — if the job needs a diesel specialist, we say so and refer you to someone we trust.
