Headlight Restoration and Bulb Replacement: Mobile Service in Houston

FlexFix Team

Foggy, yellowed headlights are not just ugly — they reduce nighttime visibility by up to 80%. And a burned-out bulb is a safety issue and a ticket magnet. Both are easy fixes we handle on-site.

Headlight lens restoration:

Over time, UV exposure and road debris degrade the clear coat on polycarbonate headlight lenses. The result is hazy, yellow headlights that look bad and scatter light instead of focusing it. Houston's intense sun accelerates this process.

What we do: We wet-sand the lens surface through progressively finer grits to remove the degraded layer, then polish and apply a UV-resistant sealant. The result is dramatically clearer lenses that look close to new.

Time: about 30-45 minutes for both headlights.

How long it lasts: with a quality UV sealant, results typically last 1-2 years. Without sealant, they may cloud again within months.

When restoration will not work: if the haze is on the inside of the lens (moisture intrusion) or if the lens is deeply cracked, restoration will not solve it and lens replacement is needed.

Headlight bulb replacement:

Bulb types vary by vehicle. Halogen bulbs are the most common and easiest to replace. HID (xenon) and LED headlights are more complex and sometimes require adapter rings or programming.

We carry common halogen bulbs and can source specialty bulbs for your specific vehicle. Most bulb replacements take 15-30 minutes, though some vehicles have notoriously difficult access (we are looking at you, certain Chevy models).

Always replace bulbs in pairs — if one burned out, the other is likely close behind, and matching bulbs ensures even light color and intensity.

Turn signal and tail light bulbs: While we are there, we check all exterior lighting — turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, license plate lights. A burned-out brake light is a common reason for being pulled over, and it is a $5 bulb.

Night driving in Houston: Between construction zones with poor lighting, sudden rain reducing visibility, and highway speeds, good headlights are essential safety equipment. If your headlights are dim or cloudy, do not wait.

Schedule headlight restoration or bulb replacement anywhere in Katy, Sugar Land, Cypress, or Houston — call, text, or book online.
