Emergency Mobile Mechanic in Houston: When to Call and What We Fix Roadside

FlexFix Team

When your car breaks down in Houston, you have two main options: a tow truck or a mobile mechanic. For many common failures, calling us first can save you the cost and hassle of a tow.

Situations where we can help on-site:

Dead battery — we test and replace batteries at your location. This is our most common emergency call. Whether you are in a parking lot on Westheimer, at your home in Katy, or at work in the Energy Corridor, we come to you with a fresh battery and testing equipment.

Starter failure — if your car clicks but will not crank, the starter may have failed. We replace starters roadside and in parking lots regularly.

Alternator failure — your battery light came on and the car died? If you are in a safe location, we can diagnose and replace the alternator on-site. If you are on a highway shoulder, a tow to a safe location first is the better call.

Flat tire — if you cannot change it yourself or do not have a spare, we can assist. We carry basic tire repair supplies for minor punctures.

Overheating — if the car overheated and you pulled over safely, we can diagnose the cause once it cools. Thermostat, hose, fan relay, or coolant leak — most of these are mobile-fixable.

Belt failure — a snapped serpentine belt means no charging, no AC, and on some vehicles, no power steering. If you are in a parking lot or safe area, we can replace the belt on-site.

When to call a tow truck instead:

- You are on a narrow highway shoulder or in an unsafe location - The transmission has failed (no movement at all) - Major fluid loss — large puddle of oil, coolant, or transmission fluid under the car - Accident damage - You are unsure what happened and the car will not move

How to reach us: Call or text and describe what happened, where you are, and what the car is doing (or not doing). We will tell you honestly whether we can help on-site or whether a tow makes more sense. We never charge for the phone call.

Response time varies based on our schedule and your location, but we prioritize emergencies when possible. We serve Katy, Sugar Land, Cypress, and all of greater Houston.
